REGULATION 2018-2019

GOALS

The Spot School Award – Mediterranean Creativity Festival – is a competition organized by CreativisinascE targeted exclusively at young people and students of communication and advertising training in advertising, multimedia and audiovisual technology, graphic design, marketing, digital marketing, photography, copywriting, art direction, at schools and universities, both Italian and foreign. Over the years, the Spot School Award has caught the attention of the academic, professional and media worlds as an excellent showcase that highlights and rewards young creative talents offering, since its first edition, an innovative approach to young  advertising creativity and training students. In essence, it is the event where novelty and established meet the future of advertising and communication, discovering trends and potential innovation through the participation of professionals, students, the communication industry, startuppers, fans of advertising and design. The Spot School Award aims to highlight the level of creativity and technical knowledge achieved by students and newly-graduated/qualified, is also a valid chance for universities, academies and specialised schools which can highlight their courses quality and reach their target public. The first web-only competition since its first edition, in later years its planners have devoted increasing attention to interactive advertising, viral phenomena, unconventional advertising, video, web design.

PARTICIPATION

Eligible participants include:

-students studying at universities, acknowledged public and private schools both in Italy and abroad, therein attending graduate programs in communication science, business/public/social/visual communication, audio-visual and multimedia techniques, courses in advertising, art direction, copywriting, advertising and graphic design, web and internet design, industrial design, packaging, marketing;

-new university and high school graduates in one of the courses above;

-interns at advertising agencies who are university/high school graduates in one of the courses above.

N.B. In any case, participants must be under 29 years of age onJune 30, 2019.

Participants may apply: individually; in pairs; in group (maximum 5 components).

Participants may not apply by joining multiple pairs or groups, nor a pair and a group simultaneously.

Should participants be part of a pair or group, they must include their reference person’s name on the application form (notes in application form must be filled in accordingly).

SECTIONS (IN WHICH WORKS MAY BE ENTERED) AND REQUIRED MATERIAL

In recent years, digital technologies have revolutionized various industrial sectors, and communication has been following this trend with the multichannel approach. In submitting campaigns it is thus not only required to use a creative approach in the various channels, but to integrate all channels in a communication ecosystem consistent with the story of the creative idea.

- TV commercials: DVDs in avi or mpeg formats (recommended duration, 30"; max duration, 60")

- VIRAL VIDEOS, ADVERTISING SHORTS: DVDs in avi or mpeg formats (recommended duration, 3'; max duration, 5')

- DIGITAL - Mobile, web applications, online campaigns, social campaigns, interactive media (wall, screen, Internet of Things, etc.) augmented reality, 3D mapping, holograms, etc. The formats can be storyflows, annotated wireframes, interactive prototypes, images, videos on DVDs accompanied by printouts where applicable. A short description must be included.

- POSTER/ PRESS ADVERTISING: original copy of color or b/w comps in A3 size, applied on 35×50 cm black cardboard (max. 3 comps per campaign) plus CD containing PDF files.

- RADIO ADs: mp3 on audio CD (recommended duration, 30"; max duration, 60")

- DIRECT MARKETING: send original advertising material along with comps applied on 35×50 cm black cardboard, plus PDF files on CD.

- UNCONVENTIONAL ADVERTISING (ambient, guerrilla, events, innovative communication projects): presentation with color or b/w comps in A3, applied on 35×50 cm black cardboard (max. 3 comps per campaign) plus CD containing PDF files; a short description must be included.

- UNCONVENTIONAL ADVERTISING (ambient, guerrilla, events, innovative communication projects): presentation with color or b/w comps in A3, applied on 35×50 cm black cardboard (max. 3 comps per campaign) plus CD containing PDF files; a short description must be included.

- ADVERTISING PHOTOGRAPHY: color or b/w comps in A3 size, mounted on 35×50 cm black cardboard (max. 3 comps per campaign) plus CD containing PDF files.

- ADVERTISING ILLUSTRATION: color or b/w comps in A3, mounted on 35×50 cm black cardboard (max. 3 sketches per campaign) plus CD containing PDF files.

N.B. All material sent (CDs, DVDs, comps, etc.) must include: full name, course attended, whether university or school students or graduates. For the comps such details must be indicated on the back of the card.

APPLICATION

- the required material (see Sections);

- copy of identity card;

- copy of a document proving enrollment at university or school, or proving holding a diploma, a degree or equivalent, or a Master;

- copy of application payment receipt.

Application implies a 35.00 (thirty-five) Euro contribution per campaign, regardless of having chosen one or more sections. The contribution will fund the exhibiting and screening of works produced

Each participant, couple, or group may register up to two campaigns for each brief prepared, i.e. a maximum of 6 campaigns in the case of proposals in the 3 briefs available. Each campaign can be articulated over one or more sections.

In the case of multi-subject campaigns, participants may send a maximum of 3 subjects. Multi-subject campaigns include those involving several subjects expressing a single creative concept.

The material will need to be sent, taking care for it to arrive in good condition, to: Associazione CreativisinascE – XV Spot School Award – Via R. Mauri, 98 – 84129 Salerno (Italy).

N.B. The entries must be unpublished, self-produced and verifiable; they will not be returned and will become property of the Organization. Participants authorize the organization to project, exhibit, publish their entries in the places and in the manner deemed appropriate in his judgment and also in collaboration with public and private entities or associations, for educational and social purposes, or to promote the Spot School Award. In any case, with the approval of this regulation and with the signature required on the registration form, every participant authorizes the Organization to determine any future use of the entries.

JURY

Jurors are chosen for their role and importance in the major professional companies and associations of category. This also protects the work produced by students and their opportunity to get noticed by advertising entrepreneurs. The role of jury president is entrusted to an prominent international creative figure.

 

AWARDS

GRAND PRIX Rai Pubblicità – Salerno Council*

The jury, at its sole discretion, will choose the overall winner among the winning works of the various sections, which will be awarded the Grand Prix Rai Pubblicità – Salerno Council. The winner/s will be granted participation as guests at one of prestigious Advertising Festival as Cannes Lions or D&AD in London.

Hotel accommodation in Cannes is the responsibility of the winners.

In any case, decision is up to the jury and the unquestionable opinion of the Rai Pubblicità delegate in this jury.

 

TODAY YOUNG AWARD*

The Today Young Award (TYA) was established with the intent to select, within the competition, one or two creative young people ready for an agency experience.

The basis for selection are the quality, performance, and presentation of the work.

The TYA prize was established in 2013, and the authors of the winning work were beneficiaries of a training experience – training and guidance internship – held at Aldo Biasi Comunicazione, an advertising agency based in Milan, Via Signorelli 14.

The internship program will be awarded to the single author of the winning work or to the team (max 2 of the authors) of the winning work. The procedure to access the training activities will be specified by the agency/company appointed for 2016.

 

COPY SCHOOL AWARD

The award, created to endorse creative writing, will be awarded to the work containing the best copy portion. The winner/s will be awarded free membership for one year at the CreativisinascE association.

 

DESIGN SCHOOL AWARD

The prize will be awarded to one of the works in one or more sections. The evaluation will be made based on design quality and innovation. The winner/s will be awarded free membership for one year at the CreativisinascE association..

 

INTEGRATED MEDIA AWARD

The prize will be awarded to the best campaign developed through the synergistic use of at least three media corresponding to three of the sections listed above.

 

GOLDEN SCHOOL TROPHY, SILVER SCHOOL TROPHY

These prizes will be awarded to universities/schools which distinguished themselves the most for the quality of the works presented.

 

 

N.B. The jury may not award one or more of these awards if works are not deemed deserving of recognition.
